On My Way

I have been reading Dr. Seuss' Oh The Places You'll Go! and have been feeling such great excitement and nervousness about the future.

Trying to figure out the most strategic way to pack all of my Perfect foods Bars!

Last week, Matt and I flew to Milwaukee and then drove to Detroit, MI from Tuesday-Thursday. During this time we met with Keith and Kevin Hanson of the Hanson's Brooks Distance Project. It was awesome meeting them and discussing their coaching views and the successes of the team. I was also able to run with the girls and get to know them a little bit. They were all so nice and humble, this is what I love the most about the team!

We drove back to Milwaukee and spent time with my parents until Sunday. I did a lot of running, a lot of eating, and a lot of nervous waiting to see if we would be making a move to Michigan.

Long run on the Hank Aaron trail in Milwaukee

Yesterday afternoon, I found out that I was accepted on to the Hanson's Brooks Olympic Distance Team. I am so honored to be a part of the team. I remember when I first started running in 2007, I saw videos on Runners World.com about the team and was so impressed and in awe of the women's team. For me to now be a part of it is a dream come true. I still can't believe it. I am ready to work hard and to see my team mates every morning!
It will be very hard to leave our family and friends in Arizona, but Matt and I are very excited for this next chapter in our lives. We own our home here in Arizona, so once we look into selling it, we will have a better timeline of when we are leaving. Dreams do come true! Always believe in yourself!

What makes you come alive?

“Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive & go do it. Cause what the world needs is people who have come alive”-Thurman
I love this quote. It is a reminder that we only have one life and that we need to do what we love! Material things come and go, but our memories and experiences will last forever.  Running is what makes me feel alive. It gives me time to reflect,  problem solve, and at times, running lets me see what I am made of! I am truly grateful for the ability to run every day.  Run happy!

The Olympic Trials have come and gone. I can’t believe it! Now it is back to normal life. I am back to running two-a-days, and I am feeling pretty good. I don’t feel like I lost a lot of fitness during the taper and time off from the Trials, so that is good. Coach John had me at higher mileage during the taper and I think that really helped.  I have a few shorter races in the horizon, my personal favorite being the race our running club puts on. Check it out!

Did you know that you can also win your weight in beer? I love it!

We have a really awesome women’t team this year. We are the Bada$$ Bandidos Babes comprising of myself, Alex Blake, Tanaya Gallegher, Christina DeRosa, and Allison DeLancy. I am excited to be on a team with such fast women, let’s bring home the beer ladies!

I am also running a 5k this weekend. I need to get that first post-marathon race over with. :) It will be fun to get back out there and race. I am nervous but looking forward to it. Bring on the pain train! ha!
